During the summer months, several Norwegian Ford Mustang Mach-E drivers got a shock, when their new electric car locked its wheels and crashed on steep downhills.
Even if this bug is fixed – either by a dealer or a so-called OTA (over the air) software update, which will be available later this year, Ford’s development department can not relax with the very first.

Route and roof can come loose
Just days ago, it became known that an unknown number of copies of the Mustang Mach-E will be recalled in this country as well, due to the windscreen and panoramic sunroof being able to come loose and fly off at speed.
Warning: The windscreen may come off
– The cars that need repair will have a time for repair at their Ford dealer and we will offer these customers both pick-up and drop-off service, as well as a loan car for the hours the car must spend at the dealer. It is important to emphasize that there is no hurry with the repair, information director Anne Sønsteby in Ford Motor Norway informs Dinside, at the same time as she emphasizes that the car is completely safe to use.
While Ford is working to get a bigger overview of which cars the window problem applies to, it turns out that the best seller is in even harsher weather …
Moose test iron
This week, the renowned Teknikens Värld in Sweden has tested the four popular and sought-after electric cars Ford Mustang Mach-E, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Skoda Enyaq and Tesla Model Y in the so-called moose test.
In an article, the website writes that Ford’s electric car is far behind the competition – and underperforms – in the evasive maneuver test, and that it is one of the models that fails in terms of safety.
In the video below you can see how it goes when Dinside performs the test on the Toyota RAV4:
“By being too soft in the chassis and too slow in the steering, it is very difficult to get through the cone path, even at low speeds. When the entry speed is 65 km / h, we notice that the chassis has to fight, and that the anti-slip system does not keep up. The Mustang Mach-E so far passes the moose test at 65 km / h. At 68 km / h it is with difficulty and hardly. At 70 km / h the car goes wide and throws on the butt in a very unsafe way, while the cones that symbolize the edge fly. At 72 km / h, the Mustang Mach-E is unable to stay on the road … » writes Teknikens Värld.
To be specific, it is the model version Ford Mustang Mach-E AWD Long Range, with factory-fitted 225/55 R19 tires, which has passed the Swedish test.
Warns against Norway’s most popular SUV
– Ford is checking up
Anne Sønsteby in Ford Motor Norway tells Dinside that they have been made aware that the test result in Teknikens Värld. She reveals that Ford will already this week meet the test team in the publication in order to better understand the results.
– Mach-E is expected to be awarded a strong rating by Euro NCAP when it is announced at the end of October. Although we can not yet explain the results of this specific test, we are confident that the Mustang Mach-E satisfies the very highest standards set globally by Ford, including trouble-free implementation of our comprehensive tests of stability and ESP systems, says Sønsteby to Dinside .
– Is the Ford Mustang Mach-E safe to buy and drive?
– Yes, it is safe to drive a Mustang Mach-E.
All cars were recalled
– No drama
Also in 2019, Teknikens Värld went out and warned against buying a bestseller, after they beat the latest generation Toyota RAV4 in the test.
“The behavior in the avoidance test is so dangerous that we, until Toyota has corrected the error, advise against buying the car,” they wrote at the time. Since then, Dinside did ours own moose test, which freshened up the popular folk SUV.
Test: Just to enjoy!
Dinside’s own car expert – and former Norwegian jury representative in Car of the Year – Rune Korsvoll, believes the test result is not much dramatic for Ford.
– The thing is that the car does not pass the moose test at more than 68 km / h, without tearing cones, because it is soft in the suspension and not particularly directly in the steering. I do not think this plays any role for most people, says Korsvoll to Dinside.
He also believes that most cars on the market today have faults that need to be fixed.
– It seems that most cars are recalled with different faults all the time, says the car expert.
