For the latest generation of the Ford Mustang, the American automaker once again pulled out a historical name inspired by the west coast of the USA.
Last year, a new, seventh generation of the popular Ford Mustang model was introduced to the world. The outgoing one received an edition called California Special for the Mustang GT model, which was also seen in the Czech Republic in several pieces, specifically in the cabriolet body.
This name refers to the original model, officially named GT/CS. It was created in 1968 at the instigation of the huge popularity of pony cars and the Mustang in the sixties of the last century. Up to 35 Mustangs were sold a day in California at the time, but this edition became more of a flop compared to the sales ratio of classic Mustangs. In the end, only 4118 units were produced.
But this does not prevent Ford from reviving this name for the latest generation of Mustang. The Mustang GT California Special has just been introduced and will be offered in both body styles, each with accessories in the distinctive Rave Blue color.
Bright blue is new to this pack. It is found on the front grille, nineteen-inch wheel discs, emblems indicating the special edition and the side stripe complemented by a thicker stripe in black. Another change from the standard model is the dark tinted headlights.
In a similar style, the designers played with the interior. Perforated upholstery combining black and dark blue leather can be seen on the seats. In addition, contrast stitching in a combination of blue and gray threads appears on the seats, steering wheel, door trim, center console and dashboard.
The package is already available for the American market, with a price tag of 1,995 dollars (45,600 crowns). As with the previous generation, this package will be exclusively paired with the five-liter V8. It is not yet certain whether he will visit the Czech Republic again.
Mustang brand manager Joe Bellino revealed that they have a lot of special editions in store for the seventh-generation Mustang, which they will gradually reveal over the coming years.
