Now he’s in the third generation. The new edition will be available from dealers from the end of the month and from 26,300 euros in the price lists.
Visually, the Kuga has clearly won. It looks sportier and more dynamic, in the higher equipment variants numerous chrome elements add elegant accents to the body, which has grown by nine centimeters to a length of 4.61 meters.
The American parentage is most evident in the interior, since too much hard plastic was installed here. With an 8-inch screen diagonal, the monitor is rather one of the small representatives of its kind and appears in its placement on the dashboard – and is almost more geared towards the passenger – as later included in the planning.
The rear seat bench can be moved forward, if you fold it over, the minimum of 475 liters will make up a maximum of 1524 liters of the loading compartment.
For the aforementioned 26,300 euros there is a Kuga (1.5-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine, 120 hp) with manual air conditioning, cruise control and infotainment touchscreen. Other things like LED headlights, an electrically operated tailgate and a WiFi hotspot, like many useful safety features, are only available in the more expensive equipment levels.
In addition to the basic petrol engine, Ford Germany also offers the SUV with a 150 hp version of the 1.5 l three-cylinder petrol engine and with two four-cylinder diesels (1.5 l with 120 hp, 2.0 l with 190 hp). The weaker compression-ignition engine can also be obtained with an eight-speed automatic transmission, which is standard for the more powerful and all-wheel drive representative (from 39,500 euros).
Of course, electrified variants should not be missing. Kuga 2.0 l EcoBlue Hybrid is what Ford calls the diesel (150 PS, 370 Nm), which is supported by a belt generator operated with 48 volts (from 32 600 euros). The electric motor replaces the conventional alternator and supports starting and accelerating with an additional 16 HP and 50 Nm.
The 2.5 l plug-in hybrid, available from 39,300 euros, is certainly also interesting. A 152 hp petrol engine and an electric motor with 131 hp share the work. Purely electrically, the Kuga should come 56 kilometers.
