The fate of the European Ford Mondeo was decided last year, but only this week the carmaker produced the last pieces, as Federico Ertl, one of the technicians in the Spanish factory of the Ford carmaker, informed on its LinkedIn profile.
„It is very sad to think that these are the last two vehicles produced“Ertl’s words are quoted by colleagues from AutoEvolution, who pointed out the news. “I keep my fingers crossed for new projects at the Almussafes plant,“Ertl added in his contribution.

Let us recall that, according to the carmaker, the end of Mondeo in Europe was partly decided by the customers themselves. The brand’s best-selling model last year was the compact Puma crossover, which sold 132,455 units. However, Mondea sold only 12,584 units in the same period.

The plug-in hybrid Ford Kuga, which is one of the best-selling plug-in hybrids on the old continent, and allegedly the purely electric Ford Mustang Mach-E, thus placed in front of the brand’s once European flagship.
However, this is not the end of the Ford Mondeo in the global offer. At the beginning of the year, the carmaker with a blue oval in the emblem introduced a new generation of Mondea for the Chinese market, which is built on the C2 platform, shared with the Ford Focus. Its import into Europe is not expected.
