Ford F-150: Introduction of the New Extreme ‘Lobo’ Pickup Truck in 2024

The range of the most popular North American pick-up could be expanded by another extreme version.

The Ford F-150 can come in many guises, making it a favorite among North American customers. Depending on the version, the F-150 can be a capable worker, an adventurer, a family companion and, in the Raptor version, a crazy sportsman. However, the offer could soon be expanded by a new version, which was missing from the offer for a long time.

According to overseas colleagues, Ford is now working on a new extreme Ford F-150 with the alleged “Lobo” markings, which is supposed to be the spiritual successor to the F-150 Lightning sports pickup truck, produced between 1993 and 1995 and then between 1999 and 2004.

An anonymous source told Ford Authority that the Lobo model is intended to be a unique trim level that will be easily recognizable due to, for example, a lowered ground clearance or a more aggressive body and overall appearance.

It is not yet clear what engine could be hiding under the hood. One option is a 5.0 liter naturally aspirated V8 engine, used for example in the Mustang. An alternative could be the tuned twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine used in the F-150 Raptor. The power could then go only to the rear wheels.

The term Lobo comes from the Spanish word for wolf. Ford already sells the F-150 under this name in Mexico, but in the past the brand also applied to the patent office to register the name F-150 Lobo for the American market.

The new version of the popular truck should reportedly be introduced together with the new 2024 model year Ford F-150, probably next month during the Detroit Auto Show. We have no illusions that the new Ford F-150 will arrive in Europe, but if successful, it could be the inspiration for further Ranger modifications.
