Ford: 17.7% drop in sales in the US in September

(CercleFinance.com) – Ford on Monday reported a 17.7% drop in sales in the United States in September compared to the same month last year.

The American automaker announces that it has sold precisely 156,614 vehicles last month, against 190,233 over the same period of the previous fiscal year.

The decline reached 20.9% for its premium brand Lincoln.

By vehicle category, the decrease exceeds 80% for passenger cars and amounts to 22.6% for pick-ups and vans.

Sales of 4x4s or ‘SUVs’ stand out by more than 3%.

With 156,614 units, Ford emphasizes having been the leading automotive group in the United States in September in terms of sales volumes.

But with 1.4 million vehicles sold since the start of the year, the group remains the second player in the American market over the first nine months of the year, far behind GM and its 1.8 million deliveries.
