Forced to Sell Cheap Cooking Oil, Traders: Better Not Sell First!

Jakarta

Government policies control prices cooking oil assessed as not optimal. One of them is the policy of one cooking oil price of Rp. 14 thousand liters.

The problem that arises is now that cheap cooking oil is actually in short supply. This cooking oil of Rp. 14 thousand per liter is starting to be difficult to find in retail outlets from minimarkets to market traders.

According to one minimarket employee, it is true that the supply of cooking oil of Rp. 14 thousand per liter is starting to become difficult to obtain. According to him, this cooking oil supply will not be available for a long time, because it is immediately sold out by buyers.

“Yesterday, 100 cartons of oil came. It’s just like that, one day it ran out immediately. Today the oil is not on the list of items coming,” said one minimarket employee to detik.com, Tuesday (25/1/2022) ago.

The cause of oil always runs out because people like to buy in droves even in large quantities. Minimarket employees have been circumventing this by keeping the availability of cooking oil at the cashier and warehouse so that all buyers get a share.

Scarcity also occurs in the market. According to Ngadiran, Deputy Chairman of the All-Indonesian Market Traders Association, so far, traders at the market have not been able to get one oil at a price of Rp. 14 thousand per liter.

“The oil was previously told to sell for Rp. 14,000, so it has never been received, never. There is also no bulk, nor has it been received. Until now, those who have told to sell it (Rp. 14,000/liter) have not received it,” said Ngadiran to detik.com, Thursday (27/1/2022).
