Forbes predicted an energy crisis for Europe

The rapid transition to clean energy sources threatens Europe with an energy catastrophe this winter, the newspaper writes.
In Europe, the rapid transition to clean energy sources could lead to an energy crisis this winter. About it writes Forbes on Monday October 4th.
The author of the material, David Blackmon, points out that the record rise in gas prices in the world can provoke the transition of many thermal power plants to oil or coal, which will increase their cost. But in the case of Europe, this option is problematic due to the transition to green energy. Many countries have closed the vast majority of coal and gas power plants. For example, last summer, due to a weak wind, it was necessary to return to combustible fuel.
The increased demand provoked a jump in gas prices, and Russia limited exports, which further affected its cost. As for coal, Natasha Tyurina, an analyst at the Wood Mackenzie consulting group, notes that only Russia has sufficient reserves to sell in the EU.
“If all European utilities switch to coal, this will lead to huge demand that Russia is unable to compensate in such a short time. This will require supplies from other countries, such as the United States, but the situation is similar there,” Tyurina said.
As the author of the article notes, we are talking about similar problems due to the abandonment of combustible fuels and the transition to renewable energy sources. The crisis is gradually becoming global, Blackmon added. According to him, in the current situation there are no options for a quick solution to problems due to “meaningless political decisions.” Overcoming the difficulties will take ten years, which took the transition to clean energy sources.
“This is not something that can be fixed overnight,” – summed up Blackmon.
As of October 1, the price of gas in Europe rose to $ 1200 per 1,000 cubic meters, once again updating the historical record.
Note today Gazprom quadrupled gas supplies via the Yamal-Europe pipeline.
