For YouTube, there are never enough ads

YouTube is going all-in on its advertising plan. In recent months, the video platform has made several changes to prevent non-premium users from skipping commercials and has even created longer advertising content.

Now 9to5Google reports that Google’s next step is to put commercials even during the breaks you take in your videos, although so far this only applies to smart TVs.

The news comes from Reddit and X (formerly Twitter) users, who show that pausing your video YouTubeto go to the bathroom or watch TikTok’s, the platform puts a commercial around the video.

As shown in the Reddit image, when pausing, the video shrinks and positions itself on the left side of the screen, while the ad appears on the right side, in true Liga MX style. The ad column appears with the name “Sponsored”, as well as buttons to remove the ad or get more information.

The good news is that as soon as you resume the video, the ad automatically disappears, at least until you have to go through the next billboard.

As of the date of this publication, this type has only not been seen in Mexico, so the deployment may have just begun or it may only be testing before launch.

Recently, YouTube implemented a new idea to have longer commercials, even if they were fewer in number. When this announcement was made, this new type of commercials was also announced as part of the program YouTube Select, aimed at its sponsors.
