The most effective method by which the population remains healthy is vaccination, through which diseases associated with high morbidity and mortality are prevented and, more importantly, it not only protects one person, but because most of them are vaccinated, they obtains the protection of the entire population.
In this sense, the bivalent vaccine against Covid-19 is used in our country, which contains two different types of antigens: one of the original strain of Covid-19 and another of the Omicron BA.1 variant, generating antibodies for greater protection against the disease.
The Ministry of Health has announced the extension of the age group of people who can participate in the immunization process and receive the bivalent vaccine, including, in addition to those previously included in the announcement, all people aged 60 and over and those patients with chronic diseases from the age of 12, i.e. they add to the current target population: health personnel and immunosuppressed people from the age of 12.
The enlargement was carried out because this population is the one with the highest risk of becoming seriously ill or dying from Covid 19. It is important that this point is considered, efforts are being made to prevent cases from getting worse, so if If you are in this group, you must attend the vaccination points, both in public and private health centres.
