The legendary fantasy dystopia “Kin-dza-dza!” still adored by many. The film has long been carried away for quotes, and the characters and the plot are actively discussed to this day. But not everyone knows that a character was removed from the photo, which could be played by a very famous actor, and his interpretation would have made the film even more unforgettable.
Leonid Yarmolnik was supposed to play the role of a powder merchant. He came to the filming twice, but in the end not a single episode was shot with his participation. The fact is that at first the scenery needed for the scene burned down. The director rescheduled shooting for another day. However, for the second time, a drunk driver got into a similar scenario. In order not to tempt fate further, Georgy Danelia decided to abandon the character of Yarmolnik.
Interestingly, the original painting was called “Space Dust”. Therefore, the merchant’s appearance was of greater importance to the plot. After the script was rewritten, I had to turn away from the chosen title. As a result, the film was renamed in honor of the Kin-dza-dza galaxy, where the planet Plyuk was located, where the unfortunate heroes ended up.
