The real-life screen mates weren’t friends.
The acting trio of Coward, Dunce and Experienced became the decoration of Soviet comedies. The audience admired the talent of the actors in their roles. It seemed that in life Yevgeny Morgunov, Georgy Vitsin and Yuri Nikulin were inseparable. But in reality, not only were they not friends, they were enemies as well.
Relations between Morgunov and Nikulin turned out to be especially tense. Many colleagues noted Yevgeny’s complex character, said that he envies more famous frame partners. And this feeling prompted him to ambiguous actions.
For example, the actor used his acquaintance with Nikulin to go to the circus for free. Moreover, on a countermark issued for two people, he impudently added the figure to 12. And once Morgunov announced to everyone in line at the circus that the director of the institute would now personally deal with their housing issues.
Nikulin’s office was immediately surrounded by dozens of people. He did not approve of the innocent joke of a colleague and ordered not to let Evgeny go to the circus anymore, because there are enough clowns even without him.
