Cuban-American singer Gloria Estefan shared her most personal side in a new documentary series, The Threadwhich premiered this March 4 on YouTube.

In the case of José Fajardo, Gloria’s father, the situation was much more delicate because he was Batista’s wife’s bodyguard, so his departure from the Island was literally a flight, in which he was forced to escape. to the United States with his family, to protect them.
The truth is that Fajardo remained very aware of the political movements that were taking place on the Island, to such a degree that he participated in the Bay of Pigs invasion of 1961, where he was arrested by his own cousin, part of the ranks of Castro, and imprisoned for around two years.
Luckily, the story ended well for the family, who lived a free existence in the United States, where their daughter grew up to become one of the first Latin artists to break through in the Anglo-Saxon market.

In the documentary, Gloria confessed how she began her relationship with her husband, Emilio Estefan, highlighting that he was her “first and only boyfriend.”
Despite the opposition of his mother, who saw her future son-in-law as a “musician without a profession,” the couple married on September 2, 1978 and had two children, Nayeb and Emily, and a grandson who is the protagonist of his social networks, called Sasha Estefan-Coppola.
