For these crimes, the Public Ministry will charge 14 accused of corruption (+ Details)

The Attorney General of Venezuela, Tarek William Saab announced that the Public Ministry will indict nine public officials, 10 businessmen and a former deputy for corruption.

Through his Twitter account, William Saab specified that on Tuesday afternoon, before the Second Control Judge, the Public Ministry will charge them “with imprisonment for the Pdvsa/Crypto corruption plot.”

In addition to charging nine officials, 10 businessmen and a former deputy, three judges will also be charged with deprivation of liberty.

Regarding the new PDVSA-Crypto plot, the Prosecutor recently gave details of those detained during the anti-corruption operation.

The balance presented by the justice institution detected a network of officials who, using their position and their levels of authority, carried out oil transactions parallel to the Venezuelan state company.

The allocations were made through the National Superintendence of Cryptoactives (Sunacrip) without any type of administrative control or guarantees.

With this, they failed to comply with the contracting regulations required for this purpose.

Once this illegally assigned crude was marketed, the corresponding payments to PDVSA were not met.

The network used a conglomerate of commercial companies to legitimize the capital obtained from said sales.

Acquiring crypto-assets, personal and real estate, as well as investments in the construction and real estate sector.

They also created the money laundering network that included the recruitment of people for the purpose of trafficking, whom they rewarded with “an excessive, sumptuous, illegal and criminal life.”
