MORE POWERFUL HYBRIDS – One of the most important innovations for the Toyota Corolla is the debut of the new hybrid system, now in its fifth generation. As with the current model, hybrid powertrains of 1.8 and 2 liters are available; both can now boast of modifications to both the internal combustion engine and the electric one, which according to the house improve the driving experience and efficiency. The Power Control Unit and the transaxle have been redesigned and the lithium-ion battery is more powerful, but smaller and lighter, with a reduced mass of up to 18 kg (depending on the volume of the thermal engine). For the 2-liter, total power went up to 196hp and 0-100km / h was cut by around half a second, dropping to 7.5 seconds. Recalibration of the hybrid system also allowed for a more progressive acceleration response.
MORE TECHNOLOGICAL – With the restyling the interiors of the family Toyota Corolla become more technological. The 10.5-inch multimedia display features high-definition graphics and an anti-glare screen, which guarantees visibility in all light conditions. The driver’s instrumentation is all new, visible on the new 12.3-inch panel, which can be customized according to the driver’s preferences in four different modes: Casual, Smart, Sport and Tough. Furthermore, the multimedia system is always connected to the network and is compatible with OTA updates, which will also be used to improve the driver assistance systems.
EVOLUTION FOR ADAS – The renewed Toyota Corolla is equipped with the Toyota T-Mate, which combines the latest generation Toyota Safety Sense package with other active driving and parking assistance systems. Improvements in the functioning of the systems include Acceleration Auppression, which reacts to the sudden use of the accelerator when traveling at low speed; support for collision avoidance when turning at an intersection; Emergency Steering Assist, which can now react to oncoming vehicles; the prevention of side collisions and reduction of cornering speed. The Toyota T-Mate’s features include a safe exit assist system, which will trigger an alert if it detects an open door that could obstruct the trajectory of a vehicle or cyclist approaching from behind. There is also a new rear seat reminder, which will warn the driver before leaving their car to check if they have left anything on the rear seats.
THE GR SPORT SET-UP – For all lovers of sportsmanship, the new Corolla will be available inGR Sport set-upwhich, among other things, has 18 ”machined alloy wheels, and on the sports seats, as well as on a specific aesthetic customization.
