Employees of the municipal company “Rīgas satiksme” on Wednesday, October 7, will not yet disembark passengers who will not have a face shield, but will remind them of this requirement. Olafs Pulks (“New Unity”), the head of the Riga City Council Traffic and Transport Affairs Committee, said this in an interview.

Also, for the time being, Rīgas satiksme will not decide to increase the number of transport flights, but if such a need is due to the safety of human health, it will be done as far as possible.

If passengers comply with the requirement to use face masks, there will be no need to impose penalties, Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš (“Jaunā Vienotība”) said in an interview on the LTV program “Rīta Panorāma”.

“I am not a fan of punishment,” said Kariņš, emphasizing that it is important to promote people’s understanding.

The Prime Minister called on the population to use face masks in other public places where it is not possible to keep a distance from others.

The war called rumors that schools could soon continue their studies remotely. “Our goal is to keep schools and universities open. It is important that children study in person, ”said the Prime Minister.

CONTEXT:

Due to the increase in the number of Covid-19 patients, face masks in public transport throughout Latvia from October 7 are mandatory. In public transport may not be admitted passengers without masks, while passengers who do not wear masks, will be able to disembark from the vehicle, if necessary, also involving the police.
