For the third night in a row, Paris police have to disperse youth parties

Paris police said on Sunday they had used tear gas to disperse hundreds of young people who had held a street party in defiance of the social distancing rules imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic and ignoring the start of curfew at 1 p.m. 23.00.

The gathering on the wide moor at the House of the Disabled, which has been held since Thursday as part of the so-called Project X, was the third such party.

The video footage, published on social media, shows a group of young people jumping on the roof of a car while others are bottling police vehicles.

As the weather made it increasingly impossible to comply with the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, the police had to interrupt other parties held after midnight in the gardens of the Louvre near the Louvre and the Seine, police said.

Many bars in the French capital continued to work after 11 p.m., ignoring for the first time the curfew, which began at 9 p.m. last Wednesday, AFP reporters said.

For the first time since October, bars and restaurants have been allowed to serve customers indoors from Wednesday, and the government plans to cancel the curfew completely on June 30.

Meanwhile, health services report that 3,972 new cases of Covid-19 infection have been reported in the last 24 hours. In turn, the number of patients in intensive care units has decreased to 2110, which is significantly less than at the apogee of the so-called third wave of the pandemic, when it reached almost 6000.

There have been 34 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of pandemic victims in France to 110,407.
