On August 14, this summer, probably the only large-scale open-air festival in Riga will take place on the shores of the Latvian Ethnographic Open-Air Museum and on Lake Jugla.
This year’s festival “Laiva” will feature the most legendary Latvian folk metal group “Skyforger”, as well as the group “Dagamba”, whose participants are not only the organizers of the festival, but also celebrate the tenth year of the group’s existence. As the event approaches, the number of artists will increase.
The organizers describe the festival “Laiva” as a bridge between traditional, classical values and the modern world, just as “crossover” or inter-genre music forms a bridge between classical or folk music and contemporary music. Music without borders, the traditions of our ancestors, intertwined with the present day and the beauty of peaceful, picturesque Latvian nature – this best describes the inter-genre festival “Laiva”, which we are happy to organize for the second year. The format of this year’s festival also continues our inter-genre theme – thanks to our new and specially located stage, the concerts will be able to be seen both smoothly on Lake Jugla and conveniently located on the shores of the Open-Air Museum. We are also pleased that last year our festival was praised not only by the large number of festival visitors, but also by industry professionals, awarding it the “Excellence Award”, “said the festival organizer Valters Pūce.
Visitors are invited to come to the festival by boats, motorboats (with a lift motor), SUP boards or catamarans, as well as by public transport, personal car or bicycle, because this year the festival will be able to watch and listen not only on the lake, but also on land. thanks to a specially designed 360 ° stage on which the artists will perform. The price of one ticket is 25 euros, a ticket must be purchased for each visitor of the festival “Laiva”, regardless of the number of people in the floating vehicle. The festival organizers also offer boat rental. Subject to national safety precautions, persons who have not been vaccinated or ill with Covid-19 will only be able to attend the festival by floating vehicle.
