For the second year in a row, “Democracy Cafe” will take place in Kuldiga

On August 8, for the second time, the event “Democracy Café” will take place – a free space for talks, where people who do not know each other to meet on topical issues in society.
It is said that we all live in our own information bubbles, each of which is dominated by a certain opinion. Being only among your own like-minded people is comfortable, but also dangerous. In order for the society to live in mutual harmony, it is important to be aware of how different we are and to be able to talk to each other with respect – this is exactly what the organizers of “Democracy Cafes”, philosopher Ģirts Jankovskis and board member of “Kurzeme NGO Center” Maija Jankovska want to achieve.
As last year, the event will take place in Kuldiga, in the garden of the “White House” (Kaļķu Street 3), where an improvised cafe will be created in the shade of old trees, roasted coffee will be offered in Kuldiga and special guests will take care of exciting conversations – each cafe representatives of the creative professions, politicians, social activists, etc.), whose task will be to stimulate negotiations, but every visitor will take part in them. Who will be this year’s special guests before the event is not revealed – let the intrigue remain. In any case, the organizers of the event promise that it will be interesting.
The event is organized by the association “Kurzeme NGO Center” with the financial support of the Society Integration Fund and Kuldiga municipality.
“Cafe of Democracy” will take place on August 8, from 17 to 20, but visitors are asked to arrive on time – from 16.30. Event address: Kaļķu Street 3, Kuldiga. Free entrance.
