The 2024/2025 academic year for foreign students at Burgas State University “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov” started with 56 future doctors from 16 countries. The new students and residents of Burgas come from Great Britain, Germany, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, Italy, Norway, Pakistan, Syria, India, Macedonia, Nepal.
The university also welcomed medical students with Turkish-Bulgarian, French-Bulgarian, American-Bulgarian and Canadian-Bulgarian citizenship, which is essential and in line with the national policy of attracting our children back to our homeland.
For the second consecutive year, young people from all over the world will study “Medicine” in Burgas.
This is a certificate of the quality training that future doctors receive at the university. Confirmation of this is also the fact that some sophomores have attracted their relatives to study at the higher school in Burgas.
“Today is your first day at our Alma Mater. Welcome! Medical education at our university has managed to gain popularity, although it is a young faculty, but it is part of a University with a 61-year history, established traditions in education and a prestigious choice for our prospective students. Its development has been accelerated, and its authority is growing in Bulgaria and around the world. Do not doubt that you will receive quality education here,” said Prof. Dr. Hristo Bozov, MD, rector of Burgas State University.
He promised the future doctors that the entire teaching staff of the Faculty of Medicine will give them the important knowledge that will help them in their future medical practice.
“With all of you – freshmen and sophomores – a multicultural microclimate has begun to be created at the university and in Burgas. And having mentioned our city, I want to tell you that Burgas is a wonderful place to live with a pleasant climate, wonderful seascapes and friendly people. Inherit him!” Prof. Bozov also said.
“I congratulate you on your choice to study at this university. I know that here you will get new competencies from the best teachers and in avant-garde equipped offices and laboratories”, were the words of Prof. Maria Neykova, regional governor of Burgas Region.
The Ambassador of Morocco, Mrs. Zakia El Midaoui, personally congratulated the students and encouraged them for their choice to study in Burgas. Dimitar Nikolov, the deputy mayor for education, health care, social activities and youth policies Mihail Nenov, the mayor of Kazanlak Galina Stoyanov, her deputy, representatives of the hospitals in Burgas and doctors were present in the hall.
French-Bulgarian citizen Kalina Naydenov, who is a first-year medical student, gave a speech to the audience. The ceremony for the opening of the academic year for the foreign students ended with the distribution of their student books – personally by Prof. Bozov, the dean and deputy. Dean of the Faculty of Medicine.
