Kicker Robert Akmens overcame the semi-final round of the World Cup in Szeged, Hungary, finishing in second place and losing Manfredi Rici 0.21 seconds in a very intense fight, which allowed the athlete to win a place in the main A final.

In the semi-final round, 27 athletes started, where they were divided into three races, each with 9 kayakers. Roberts Akmens started in the third race, where the competition was compiled for him by another Latvian representative Aleksejs Rumjancevs, who did not make it to the finals.

Akmens and Rumyantsev’s semi-finals turned out to be very interesting and intense, Akmens finished in the second position, losing the winner Manfredi Rici by 0.21 seconds. Alexei Rumyantsev was 1.01 seconds behind the winner and ranked seventh among nine athletes. In the total classification among 27 rowers, Akmens showed the fifth best time in the semifinals, but Rumyantsev – 18th.

Madara Aldiņa participated in the women’s 200-meter semi-final rowing. His winner Natalia Podolsky from Russia lost 2.24 seconds and finished in the penultimate or eighth place.

On Saturday, she will participate in the C final in this distance.

Later, Roberts Lagzdiņš will also start a 500-meter canoe.

It has already been reported that Akmens was second in his rowing in the 200-meter preliminaries on Friday, but Rumyantsev took the fifth position and entered the semi-finals due to a good finish time.

Aldiņš was sixth in the preliminaries. He also reached the semi-finals due to the result achieved. The athlete later also took part in the 500-meter distance, where she took eighth place in her rowing competition.

In turn, skater Artūrs Vilde took the seventh place in the 1000-meter preliminaries with a time of three minutes and 50.69 seconds and did not qualify for the semi-finals.-

The World Cup stage in Hungary will run until Sunday.
