In early June, Toyota RAV4 PHV entered the Japanese market – a powerful, hybrid version of the crossover with an all-wheel drive system. Demand for it exceeded the expectations of the company, but it is not able to satisfy the needs of the market.
According to Mag-X, Toyota hoped to sell about 300 copies, but now the number of orders is three times that number. It would seem that companies should rejoice at such success, but they clutch their heads there – they cannot provide such volumes. The reason lies in the lack of components: supplies of lithium-ion batteries are established from abroad, and delivery times are constantly floating.
Dealers report that the car’s waiting period has now increased to eight months. By mid-summer, they hope to rectify the situation, but now the acceptance of orders for the most powerful “Ravchik” is stopped.
Toyota RAV4 PHV (in the USA the model is called Prime) is equipped with a hybrid power plant with a capacity of 306 hp. The crossover can accelerate to “hundreds” in 6 seconds and drive about 1,300 km without refueling.
Earlier, RG reported that in Russia Toyota RAV4 also had an increased demand, and the plant in St. Petersburg did not have time to assemble cars.
