/ world today news/ I remembered a joke about Zhivkov’s daughter: “The daughter of the first secretary of Czechoslovakia asked her father to make her minister of maritime affairs, and he replied: Yes, dear child, but you know that our Czech Republic no sea! Yes, father, the daughter replied, but Bulgaria doesn’t have a culture either, and there is a minister of culture, Zhivkov’s daughter!” When I heard it, I was outraged. Not because of the accent – Lyudmila Zhivkova, about whom there were many anecdotes and even epigrams. And because of our culture.
It is known that Bulgaria has a thousand-year-old culture older than many others in Europe, including the Czech Republic, which, of course, is also worthy of respect… At least this is what our dear friend, the famous Russian scientist Dmitry Likhachev, reminded us soon. , called Bulgaria the “Empire of the Spirit”. Yes, I would add: under the social system, although we completely deny it now, Bulgaria had not only a highly developed culture of which it was proud, but also a normal Ministry of Culture. With few exceptions, it was led by people who cared for her and gave their best, without seeking fame and benefits… I will mention only those respected by all: Georgi Yordanov, Pavel Matev, Petar Vutov, Alexander Fol…
And now? After the changes, as many as 13 ministers lined up,
almost all randomly appointed on a party or I would say mafia principle, most of them without the necessary qualities for this extremely important post, without the ability to take any responsibility, and when they make any mistake/ because anyone who works can make a mistake!/ , to admit honestly to themselves and to society: “Here I was really wrong!”.. No, there is no such thing now in our country, not even in the Ministry of Culture, which should be an example, and now it has exposed itself like this to the whole nation . Indeed, more of these persons were completely inappropriate, let’s remember the courtier Abrashev / who wrote the cantata – an ode to Simeon / or the random “ladybug” Nina Chilova, who confused Pancho Vladigerov with Zlatyu Boyadzhiev!
Minister Banov’s cry is really funny
/ I read somewhere that they are already naming him Alobanov!/. Pressed by the facts, he screamed, fell into hysteria, made a bad theater / even though he is a director and the son of an actor/ and cried: “Attacks against me are attacks against the entire Bulgarian culture!” Can you imagine: Banov was the personification of the entire Bulgarian culture?! Yes, maybe on a part of it, if we consider that on the day of his inauguration, he sent an official birthday greeting to the Rapper with the duparata /Crisco/. This seriously outraged a large part of our intelligentsia, but, unfortunately, they did not firmly insist on his resignation, but decided to wait and see his affairs. And all too soon she was disappointed. He proved to be a diligent disciple of his predecessor, who had long since become a laughingstock of the media and society. Here, below, I present some of the last “pearls” from the press / thoughts / of the great minister and cultural figure, who proudly calls himself “chief multak of the Republic”. With his incompetent actions, he dealt a crushing blow to the Bulgarian theaters, operas, orchestras, ensembles, philharmonics/ the latter were outright liquidated, even the best ones in Plovdiv and Ruse!/. Through the stupidity of “delegated budgets”, the activities of cultural institutes in our country were fatally and irrevocably disrupted. Contests for directors, appointed mainly on a party basis, have become corrupted, artistic councils have disappeared, creative activity has declined. Yes, the ridiculous “reform” is now forcing directors to make unforgivable repertoire and artistic compromises and reach the brink of bankruptcy. And when Vezhdyo Rashidov saw this, he recommended to our National Music Theater, in order not to be closed / imagine from him!/, to invite the Roma singer Sofi Marinova on tour! What cynicism! These “budgets” without analog in the world, he announced that they were on the “German model”, but the Minister of Culture of Germany immediately refuted his lie… Yes, he is really a person whose self-confidence you can envy. He turned out to be a “world name” that the state had to pay around £20,000 to appear in person – for a fee! – in a London gallery, and then to silence the world with his success! After that, to donate / or more precisely to impose / on the Paris Louvre his black iron sculptures, in order to enter the museum of the immortals. But the director of the Louvre took it and gave it back to him…
Indeed, in a few years these ministers caused great damage to Bulgarian culture. They cost the Bulgarian taxpayer millions. If we take only the repairs and restorations and restorations, we will see how much wrong money has gone. The scandal surrounding the Largoto, the excavations in the center of Sofia, revealed the big scams that are now being investigated. The ill-conceived projects such as Rashidov’s “Square 400”, a number of kitschy mock-up reconstructions of monuments and fortress walls, also bring huge losses. A lot of wrong money also went around the European Presidency, in which Bulgarian culture was not adequately represented at all. At the same time, significant programs and festivals as well as cultural institutes are languishing. The “Sofia Music Weeks”, which were visited by luminaries of the rank of Karayan, Freni, Domingo, Celebidake, are below the level of a similar capital music festival. But this does not concern either the Ministry or Fandakova. Not to mention the roof of the National Library, the lack of a building for the Plovdiv Opera House, the abandoned concert hall there!, the crumbling Ruse Art Gallery / one of the first in our country/, the dilapidated cinemas, community centers, galleries and museums of many places for abandoned buildings and monuments of national importance. Like, for example, the wonderful building in the city of Shipka… All this should weigh on the conscience of the last ministers of culture, who turned out to be really random, to put it mildly: inappropriate people… such was our nature… As the famous Radoy used to say: “I am not afraid of the Minister of Culture, but of the Minister’s culture…”
Minister Banov stated that he was “a personification
of the entire Bulgarian culture”
The renovation of Largoto in Sofia cost only BGN 17,000,000
