/ world today news/ The Sofia organization of the BSP will choose between two candidates for mayor of Sofia. One is the sociologist Prof. Mihail Mirchev, and the other is the preferentially elected MP Georgi Kadiev. Officially, a total of 15 people have been nominated as red candidates for mayor of Sofia, but the others planned to withdraw, “Trud” learned.
The conference of the largest structure in BSP is on July 25. In addition to Prof. Mirchev and Kadiev, the regional organizations in the capital also nominated Cornelia Ninova, Kaloyan Pargov, Iliyana Yotova, Prof. Ivan Danov, Evgenia Zhivkova, Zhelyo Boychev, Kostadin Paskalev, Yanaki Stoilov, Borislav Tsekov, Rumen Gechev, Panayot Bonchev, Tasko Ermenkov and Associate Professor Ivo Hristov. However, according to people in the know, both the leadership of the Sofia organization and that of “Positano” 20 liked Prof. Mirchev as a candidate and wanted Kadiev, who has already fought twice with Yordanka Fandakova, to give up.
On July 25, the pre-election program of the left in the capital will be chosen, the priorities of which will be public works, health care, education and culture, municipal economy and transport. One of the options for the motto of the socialists’ campaign in the capital is “The Other Face of Sofia”.
The candidate for mayor of the left will face Yordanka Fandakova from GERB, who won the last elections in the first round. Another professor from the Reform Bloc enters the battle – MP and long-time municipal councilor Vili Lilkov. This time, it is also possible that DPS will have a candidate for mayor of Sofia in alliance with NDSV.
