The platinum jubilee celebrations, 70 years since the accession of Queen “Elizabeth” to the British throne, are still going on.
A new coin was issued containing the signature of Queen “Elizabeth” for the first time, after it was the Queen’s portrait that was printed on coins around the world.
To celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, the mint used the famous signature of Queen Elizabeth R on three £5 coins.
The letter “R” stands for “Regina”, which in Latin translates to queen. The tradition of signing goes back centuries to British royalty.
