Scientists at United States of America (USA) for the first time succeeded in growing plants using land taken from the Moon. This is considered to be a big leap for human knowledge about agriculture in space.
As reported AFPFriday (05/13/2022), the soil used to grow the plant was brought back to Earth by astronauts in the Apollo program.
This groundbreaking experiment gives researchers hope that it may someday be possible to grow and grow plants directly on the surface Moon.
This will save future space missions from the hassle and cost savings, as well as facilitating longer and farther trips. This experiment is reviewed in detail in the Journal of Communication Biology, which was released Thursday (12/5) local time.
However, according to the study’s authors from the University of Florida, much remains to be learned on this topic. They stated that they intend to learn everything.
“This research is critical to NASA’s long-term human exploration goals,” said the head of the US space agency. NASABill Nelson.
