With a Porsche, Porsche launched its electric offensive in 2019. Despite the fact that the legendary 911 as the core of the brand’s offer pays for the long-selling best-selling sports car ever, the electric car has already surpassed it in the brand’s sales.

Taycan’s iconic car from the same stable surpassed several hundred cars sold. Since the beginning of this year, 28,640 units of this electric model have been sold. Porsche’s total sales increased by 13 percent in the first nine months.

“The order books are well filled and we are absolutely thrilled about the last months of the year,” said Sales Manager Detlev von Platen.

He recalled that the worldwide spread of coronavirus caused an unstable situation, including a shortage of semiconductors. This year, the most profitable brand of the Volkswagen Group has included a more spacious version of the taycan in its offer, and the Cross Turismo station wagon also dares into light terrain.
–
The manufacturer expects purely electric and hybrid cars to account for more than 80 percent of its worldwide sales by 2030. Macan wants to launch an electric version of the sports utility vehicle (SUV) in 2023.
–
In the first nine months of the year, Porsche proved to be relatively resilient to the global shortage of semiconductors. The total number of delivered cars increased to 217,198.
–
Sales were supported by growing demand in the United States, which is the second largest market for this German carmaker after China, where the company increased sales by 30 percent. The brand’s best-selling models remain the Cayenne SUV and the smaller Macan.
