For the first time, more electrified cars than diesels were sold in Europe

Data on sales during September 2020 in Europe were provided by JATO Dynamics. It turns out that the climate in the car market is really starting to change. For the first time in history, electrified cars were a great success. It has become the second best-selling segment before diesel vehicles.

The paradox is that five years ago, diesels dominated this month. But today it is different. The market is overwhelmingly dominated by petrol cars, which account for almost half of the market. However, all electrified cars with 25.2 percent were right behind them. Diesel fell and their market share in September 2020 was 24.8 percent.

The JATO company counts all cars in the operation of which any large or small electric motor participates in the category of electric cars. In this group, of course, there are traditional electric cars, plug-in hybrids and common hybrids, but also mild hybrids. And it was the last two drives that accounted for 53 percent of electrified vehicle sales.

The inclusion of so-called mild-hybrids in the category of electrified vehicles in the success of the car market in the “green” category definitely helped. Most cars are starting to use this technology.

He led the overall sales Volkswagen Golf. It was among the hybrids Toyota Corolla, and a new one right behind it Ford Puma. It should be mentioned that it offers both hybrid and mild-hybrid drive, which was a more popular variant. It accounted for 69 percent of all bomb registrations.
