For the first time in the revived “Blow, the winds!” a symphonic music concert will be played on the stage

“It’s a particularly bright and energetic combination of jazz and academic music.”

The solo of saxophonist Oskar Petrauskas will be enjoyed in the music of the famous Hollywood composer John Williams, written for Steven Spielberg’s famous film “Catch Me If You Can” starring Leonardo DiCaprio. This music was once nominated for both a Grammy and an Academy Award.

“Through this saxophone concert, I felt much more the story, the plot of the film. There are such brilliantly written themes that come out instrumentally. Musically, in each of the three parts of the concert, you can clearly understand what is happening, including the era, episodes of mumbling, hiding and scheming.”

The new artistic director of the orchestra, Guntis Kuzma, will take the conductor’s desk of the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, who has also included Leonard Bernstein’s overture “Candide” and Mexican Arturo Marquez’s Danson in this dance-joyful concert program.

In order to provide support to Ukrainian civilians who came to Latvia or cannot return to Ukraine due to the war caused by Russia, the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra offers to attend this concert free of charge. Citizens of Ukraine are invited to go to the Liepaja concert hall “Lielais dzintars” information center and, upon presentation of their passport or ID card, receive a free entrance card.
