An Egyptian medical team specialized and trained at Ain Shams University, in collaboration with a Japanese team specialized and experienced in living lung transplantation, conducted the first lung transplantation operation in Egypt, after many months of preparation, for the country to enter a new phase in the field of organ transplantation.
Lung transplantation helps save the lives of thousands of Egyptian patients suffering from acute respiratory distress, and these surgeries and transplants have become their only recourse.
In a special statement for the seventh day, Prof. Dr. Tariq Mohsen, Head of Thoracic Surgery Unit at Kasr Al-Ainy Medicine, explained that a lung transplant was performed for the first time in Egypt last Wednesday, at Ain Shams Specialized Hospitals, and the donor was the brother of Case, according to the Ain Shams University statement.
He added that, in general, this type of operation, i.e. a lung transplant, takes 8 to 10 hours, and the success of the operation is not confirmed until several days after the transplant, and the patient is not discharged from the hospital. hospital before several weeks passed until reassurance about his health conditions.
What is preparation like for a lung transplant?
