“We have been waiting for this day for more than a year,” commented the rock band around Dave Grohl on the event. “New York, get ready for a long night where we’ll scream our hearts out together.”

Vaccination necessary

New York was the center of the pandemic in the United States last spring. Far-reaching restrictions were imposed in March 2020, and almost all cultural institutions were closed. The infection process is now under control and the vaccination campaign is making rapid progress.

Madison Square Garden has so far only been able to reopen to a limited extent, including for sporting events. If you want to buy a ticket for the Foo Fighters, you have to prove a vaccination if you are over 16 years old.

It had previously been announced that New York was planning a concert for tens of thousands in Central Park at the end of the restrictions due to the pandemic in August. In addition, Bruce Springsteen will reopen Broadway with his show “Springsteen on Broadway” in July.
