For the first time since the start of the pandemic, Russia registers more than 800 deaths from Covid-19 per day during the last 5 consecutive days.

Why does it matter. The number of deaths in Russia, until last Thursday, had never exceeded 800. The country suffers from the expansion of the Delta variant and a wide rejection of the population to vaccines, which worries the authorities.

Context. Russia has only 28% of the population vaccinated with at least one dose, according to Our World in Data.

Numbers. The country had 808 deaths on Thursday, 815 on Friday, 819 on Saturday, 816 yesterday and 806 today.
