Cries of joy and squealing of shoes resound in the Chartres gymnasiums: the winter holidays, already started for more than one week, rhyme with sporting activities. On this occasion, the various Maison pour tous (MPT) offer a rich and varied program for young holidaymakers.
On Monday, February 14, it was multisport at the Rosskopf complex, for the fourteen young people from the MPT of La Madeleine. “Each house has its particularity and its favorite workshops. We try to offer as many activities as possible other than football, ”says Aissata Ba, facilitator. Same approach on the side of the MPT Rechèvres – Bel air, according to Lydie Verdy, the referent of the center, while fourteen young people registered practiced futsal.

Some activities such as billiards, table tennis, football, handball and board games can be practiced directly on site, depending on the weather.
“We take advantage of being on the move to introduce them to new sports, or activities that they would not necessarily practice outside. »

On the program for the next few days: bowling, karate or even karaoke. “Last week, we did the trampoline and we went to the circus. We try to vary the pleasures for the young people interested, ”continues the referent.
New activities are set up, in particular under the sign of the 2022 Olympic Games, such as curling and hockey. “It’s a way for us to interest them in the news. At the end of the holidays, we organize the great game of animators around the Olympics, with quizzes and animations. We also make the link with the 2024 Games. We explain to them that Chartres is a land of games, and that things will happen near them. »

Other workshops have also been set up according to the wishes of the young participants. “One of our subscribers is passionate about video editing, so we created a workshop around him. It’s important for young people to be actors in their projects,” explains Maxence Corps, animator at MPT Rechèvres – Bel Air.
Create social connection
Reception is free and registration is for the year or just for the holidays. “It allows them to come and come back when they want. And it works. “We were strongly affected by the Covid, and we had trouble getting young people back to the centers,” explains the facilitator. But the Maison pour tous de Rechèvres – Bel air has registered eleven new registrants for the first week of the holidays and “already two for the second”, as of Monday February 14.

About forty young people attend the Maisons pour Tous, every day during the holiday period. They are mainly between 11 and 14 years old. “It’s more complicated for us to mobilize the 16-17s,” says Maxence Corps.
For the facilitators, these activities are above all a means of creating links between young people.
“Often they are from the same neighborhood but hardly know each other. And then, it helps create a new state of mind during team games. Some are still individual, but we are working on it. »

For Aissata Ba, animator at the MPT de La Madeleine, it is also a way to entertain them and keep them safe.
“It often avoids knowing them outside, hanging around. Here, they are offered fun and sporting activities. We listen to their recommendations and their opinions, to make the next schedules.
