For the eighth consecutive weekend, tens of thousands of people in France protested against the restrictions imposed by the coronavirus, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.
Nearly 200 protest marches across the country took place today.
The demonstrations focus on the health pass required by the government of President Emmanuel Macron as evidence of a vaccine, illness or negative test for Covid-19, as well as on the mandatory vaccination of workers in certain occupations, including healthy workers.
According to local authorities, at least 6,000 took to the streets of Montpellier, southern France, with about 4,000 demonstrators in Avignon and more than 18,000 in Paris.
The interior ministry estimated that there were more than 140,000 protesters across the country.
In July and August, several Saturdays gathered more than 200,000 demonstrators.
The health pass is now required to visit museums, theaters, cinemas, cafes and restaurants, as well as to travel by plane and long-distance trains.
Two-thirds of French people have already been fully vaccinated, and 72.3 percent have received the first dose.
The number of hospitalizations and weekly morbidity is declining, although the situation is different in the French overseas territories.
