It is not easy for Thijs Kroezen. Seven times, the Bredanaar was diagnosed with cancer and he had to undergo surgery. Again and again he fought back. But now he has been diagnosed with cancer again, he reports on Instagram. Nevertheless, Thijs remains positive. “Life is too good to sit down and sip.”
This time, the metastases were discovered in his lungs. “Another big bang”, responds the resident of Breda. “One on the right and one on the left. Both about five millimeters in size.” But according to him the doctors are there early and the metastases can be treated well.

Irradiate
“This time it was decided to irradiate”, says Thijs. He will soon be leaving for the VU Medical Center in Amsterdam where a treatment plan will be drawn up. “I have already briefly met the doctor and I am very confident.”

In August, after his seventh cancer treatment – when the metastases were in his abdomen – Thijs already announced that he would “be surprised if metastases did not occur afterwards.” “Of course you hope for that.”

Head up
Thijs was diagnosed with cancer for the first time in 2008. Then it came to bone cancer, in his left arm. His whole arm was then amputated. In 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2015 he had metastases in his lungs. A metastasis was discovered in his pancreas in 2017 and a metastasis in his stomach followed in the summer of 2019.

But with his perseverance, he went into battle again and again, head up. Many people call Thijs a hero, but he himself sees this differently. “I don’t see cancer as a battle with winners and losers. It happens to you.”

Despite the new tap, he refuses to give up. “Life is too good to sit down and sip.”
