Scott Fahlman, a computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon University, first used the emoticons on September 19, 1982. See the photo above. The emoticon 🙂 had to indicate a joke and 🙁 stood for ‘I’m serious’. Nowadays they are mainly used to show whether you are happy or not.

Millions of euros
More and more digital objects are being sold as NFTs, for example the first tweet from Twitter founder Jack Dorsey and the source code for the worldwide web earlier this year. Both yielded millions of euros. The tweet and source code are still online and freely accessible, but the original objects are under new ownership.
