This time, the focus of the program is on the 1963 work of the American composer Earle Brown From Here for orchestra and choir.
Along with John Cage, Christian Wolff and Morton Feldman, Brown is counted among the so-called “New York School”, which, starting in the 1950s, redefined the American – and the entire world – avant-garde music. A job From Here the performers are given quite precise material, but the conductor determines its form in a different way for each performance.
The program will also feature a fragment from the album of sound engineer, composer and instrumentalist Weston Olencki. Old Time Musicwhich examines the diverse musical traditions of North and South Carolina through avant-garde musical practices, including drones, noise music, audio collages, and object improvisation.
Finally, Polish composer Zygmunt Krauze’s Rhapsody arranged by saxophonist and improviser Marek Pospieszalski will also be heard. The piece comes from the particularly ambitious Pospižalski octet album Polish Composers of the 20th Century, where you can hear the works of 12 Polish contemporary music composers arranged for an ensemble of improvising players.
