On November 18, Minister of Transport and Communications Alexei Lyakhnovich said on the Belarus 1 state television channel that his department would like to buy a Russian aircraft for passenger transportation. But there is an obvious obstacle.
“Unfortunately, we cannot purchase it yet for obvious reasons – there is no purely Russian aircraft on the market,” admitted the Belarusian minister. “Therefore, we are working with the Russian side so that we can be pushed forward a little in terms of when this plane will appear. Most likely it will be after 2026.”
Earlier, the general director of Belavia airline Igor Cherginets said that he plans to purchase Russian aircraft. He also admitted that there was nothing to buy yet.
“MS-21 and Sukhoi Superjet New. We are waiting for the Russian Federation to produce these aircraft. They are already partially being tested, with different engines. The planes are not ready yet, but in 2024-2026 they should take wing and go into commercial operation,” said Igor Cherginets.
Telegraf previously wrote that on November 1, the first flight of the wide-body long-range aircraft Il-96-400M took place in Russia. Russian state media called him the “killer” of Western passenger planes. However, critics pointed out several important nuances. Among them was the general director of Aeroflot.
