For now, suspension for one match. UEFA has initiated disciplinary proceedings against Kudela

UEFA has initiated disciplinary proceedings against Ondřej Kúdela over a case of an alleged racist statement against Glen Kamara during a rematch of the European League round of 16 between the Rangers and Slavia.

Stopper Slavie from the order of the disciplinary commission must not jump into the next duel of the European League against Arsenal, which he would miss due to a nose injury.

However, as UEFA also emphasized, this is not a punishment that would in any way reflect Kúdel’s guilt, but only a provisional measure until a final verdict is reached on the whole matter.

Disciplinary proceedings will also be missed by Kúdel’s son-in-law, Glen Kamara, who was to physically attack the Czech bek after the match.

The retaliatory duel of the round of 16 between the Rangers and Slavia was played in a very heated atmosphere. Although the Praguers won safely on Scottish soil 2: 0, the home footballers played them with a very hard game, including a brutal intervention on goalkeeper Ondřej Kolář, who did not finish the match due to a broken face.

The nervous match was crowned by an incident from the 87th minute of the match, during which the home footballers first kicked Slavia on the ground, and a moment later Koudel whispered something in Kamar’s ear.

He subsequently accused Beka Slavia of racist insult, which the Czech player later strongly denied. According to the people of Prague, Kamara and Kudela handled the whole thing by hand after the match, when the defender of Slavia attacked the stadium with his fist in the background.

UEFA has therefore taken note of both incidents and its disciplinary board should issue a verdict and possible penalties in the near future. However, she did not state the exact date of the decision.

This is how Slavia reacted to today’s shift in the case:

Slavia’s statement

On Tuesday, Slavia received a report from a UEFA inspector proposing further disciplinary action against players Ondřej Kúdel and Glen Kamar regarding the investigated incidents reported during the UEFA Europa League match between Rangers FC and SK Slavia Prague on March 18, 2021.

The verbal incident on the field between Ondřej Kúdela and Glen Kamara remains on the level of statement against statement. The UEFA inspector concluded that “in the absence of convincing evidence to establish the content of Mr Kúdela’s note, the undersigned inspector is unable to confirm or refute the description of the incident by Mr Kamara or Mr Zunga”.

The case was referred to the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Committee, which must now consider all evidence of insult or insult with racial overtones. In the meantime, the player was preventively suspended from one upcoming UEFA match. At the same time, the UEFA inspector proposed disciplinary action against Glen Kamara for his serious physical attack on Ondřej Kúdel after the match.
