Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation and former presidents and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev warned of the possibility of a response and a final review of relations with countries that have imposed sanctions on the Russian Federation.
“There is also good news. Sanctions can be an excellent occasion for a final review of all relations with those countries that have imposed them. Including a break in the dialogue on strategic stability,” Medvedev wrote on his Contact page.
He himself states that he personally, as well as members of his family, do not have any assets, accounts and property abroad. In this context, no sanctions can affect it.
In addition, Medvedev predicted the consolidation of power, administrative elites, and Russian citizens due to sanctions, and warned the West: “Wait.”
With regard to the possible suspension of Russia’s membership in the Council of Europe, Medvedev said this would be a good opportunity to restore a number of important institutions in Russia, including the use of the death penalty.
Medvedev hints at another possibility – Russia to nationalize the property of foreign nationals.
According to him, quoted by Novosti news agency, these “wonderful restrictions” will not change anything. “The main thing in the beginning. These wonderful restrictions, of course, will not change anything. This is known even by ignorant people in the US State Department.” Medvedev points out that the military operation to “protect Donbass” will be completed in full, until all the results set by the President of Russia are achieved, Medvedev wrote – “no more, no less.”
