On December 28, the director general of ARS Nouvelle-Aquitaine decided on the list of 21 establishments labeled “local hospitals”. This measure is intended to promote local hospitals as essential players in diversifying the supply of care. It is also a question of strengthening the links between the hospital, the city and the medico-social.
The 21 labeled local hospitals in New Aquitaine will have to implement new missions, in conjunction with the other players in the territory and in particular the professional territorial health communities (CPTS): ensure the first level of gradation of hospital care in medicine and facilitate access to specialists and technical platforms; provide support to city health professionals; promote the care of people in situations of vulnerability and the conditions for maintaining them at home; develop prevention and health promotion actions; contribute, in connection with the existing care offer, to the permanence and continuity of care.
Shorten deadlines
The objective is of course to shorten the time for certain consultations and of course to ensure better coverage of their health needs for patients in the territory concerned. Hence the term “local hospital”, which is more accessible and allows local management of certain pathologies and their follow-up.
