Activists from the L214 association are mobilizing this Saturday, January 16, in Lyon as in other cities in France, to denounce the role of intensive breeding in the emergence of new pandemics.
Mobilization
Hundreds of volunteers wearing masks with the inscription “we suffer the consequences”, must come together on Place Saint-Jean in Lyon, from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., to denounce what they consider to be a “government inaction in preventing the risks of the emergence of new pandemics”. Activists must present signs displaying slogans: “we suffer the consequences, but who acts on the causes?” A soundtrack and a banner in the shape of a giant mask must accompany this solemn happening.
Petition
Members of the L214 association wish to raise public awareness on the conditions of mass farming, which they denounce as potential sources of birth and spread of new epidemics. They also launched a petition directing the President of the Republic to take measures to act on the causes of the development of these diseases. They will also challenge Gregory Doucet, mayor of Lyon, on social networks.
Solutions alternatives
This national campaign must also mobilize activists in 37 other cities in France. The association calls in particular for a moratorium “immediate” on intensive breeding, the prohibition of new constructions intended to breed animals without access to the outdoors, or even support for people who depend on intensive breeding to direct them towards alternative productions.
