Where, according to the GGD, an average of 8,360 new first appointments per day were scheduled last week, this week there were a lot more daily:
- Monday: 13.442
- Tuesday: 15.558
- Wednesday: 15.129
- Thursday: 12.421
According to the GGD, the fact that so many appointments are now being made is due to an increase in the age category 18 to 35. “This can probably be explained by the fact that this group will want to go to places where the corona pass will soon be needed,” says a spokesperson.
Randall (45): ‘I just want to be able to go on holiday’

Randall had had his passport and yellow booklet in the car for some time because he was unsure whether he would get a vaccination. “I thought about it for a long time. The press conference on Tuesday was decisive.”
In fact, he didn’t want a vaccination because of ‘possible long-term side effects’ and the ‘compulsion and urgency’ that now surrounds it. “That makes me very rebellious. Because it’s about my health and my life.”
mistrust
Another factor: he doesn’t trust the government. “In the past, Rutte lied and he suddenly couldn’t remember things. To what extent do we now hear the truth about vaccination, side effects and what the future will look like with regard to measures?”
However, he is now vaccinated. “I want to go out for dinner, on vacation. Then you can say: you can get tested, right? But nobody likes having to do such a test a few times a week. So you are indirectly forced.”
There is a lot of discussion about it in his group of friends, he says. “There are a lot of proponents who say: you not only protect yourself but also the people around you. Others think more in conspiracy theories. I’m somewhere in between.”
Wanisha (28): ‘I want to go on the terraces’

Wanisha spontaneously visits the vaccination site. “I’m here because of the last press conference. I just want to go out on the terraces. I want to go where I want, without having to be tested every time.”
She did not want a vaccination before the press conference. “I didn’t feel like it’s been developed enough and they know enough about it. Something has broken out in the world, there is a vaccine in one go, while other vaccines have years of scientific research going on. I wanted to wait until I got there. couldn’t get around it.”
‘Now I’m going to get the shot’
That moment came on Monday, when the new measures were leaked. “I thought: now I’m going to get a shot because otherwise your freedom will be taken away. Then I’ll take it.”

–
Within her group of friends there are discussions about it, but in a respectful way. “Everyone has a different opinion. Some people do it, others don’t.” She doesn’t know yet how she feels about the injection. “I just had it put in, I feel good. We’ll see.”

Nick (15): ‘For my school trip to Berlin’
–
Nick came to the vaccination street with his father, without an appointment. “Because I need it for my travel week to Berlin with school. I’m in the fourth grade. You can also get tested, but then getting a vaccination is easier. Going to the cinema or eating out is also useful.”
Also for family
He previously doubted whether he wanted to be vaccinated and his father left him the choice. The press conference last Tuesday was the deciding factor. “Because you can’t go in anywhere without proof or test, I’m going to do it anyway. And I also do it a bit for the family, for protection.”
He “feels a bit obligated,” he says. “You can no longer do anything spontaneously without a negative test or vaccination. Then this is more convenient.” His friends don’t really talk about it. “Everyone just does it.”
