For her 50th birthday, this athlete from Fougères will run the New York marathon with her two children

This Sunday, November 3, is an important date for this a person living in Maen-Rochnear Fougères, in Ille-et-Vilaine. Éliane Gautier-Lorantel takes part in the New York marathon, with her two boysAndrew (18 years old) and Tom (21 years old). As 50,000 other participantsthey are scheduled for the 53rd edition of this legendary event.

For this a running enthusiastcourtesy of the club The Vigilante – Athlé Pays de Fougèresprofessional real estate agent, it’s a way to celebrating 50 years with the family. Éliane Gautier-Lorandel announced this project to them last year, during the Christmas holidays. “Ten years ago, we had to cancel our trip to the United States at the last minuteshe says. I promised them that they would take them with me, and they did not expect this surprise marathon. It’s a pleasure to share this event with the family!”

Goal: finish together

Tom, 21, is already expecting wonderful memories. “We’ll cross the Brooklyn Bridge and finish in Central Parkhe said. Lots of people cheering us on, noise everywhere, it’s going to be great!”

For their mother, it will be the sixth marathon (including one in New York). For both boys, it will be first. So they have been preparing for this meeting for months. “We were training four times a week and we did three hour tours the weekend”proves Andrew, aged 18 years.

The goal is to finish together, in less than 3h45. And it is not going to stop there, at least for Éliane and Tom, her eldest son, as they are registered for Milan marathonin the month of April.

To finance this trip, Éliane found sponsors. Registration for marathon in New Yorkalone, costs 600 euros per person. She also created Facebook page “Mother and Son: New York Marathon 2024″ to share this adventure, a page followed by almost 200 people.
