During the weekend, when going on trips around Latvia, it is necessary to take into account road construction works that take place on 109 road sections throughout the country, informed SJSC “Latvijas valsts ceļi” (LVC).
LVC invites motorists to plan their trips in time, anticipate additional time on the road and look at the road repair map on the LVC website “www.lvceli.lv” in order to plan routes more successfully. LVC calls on drivers to take into account traffic restrictions and to observe traffic organization and traffic light signals during the construction stages.
Among other things, the company was informed that on the Vidzeme highway (A2) in the section from the turn to Rauna to the intersection with the Smiltene-Gulbene road there are six temporary traffic light sections and it will be necessary to count an hour to leave them.
On the other hand, on the regional road Pūri-Auce-Grīvaiši (P96) there are two long sections of construction work at the beginning of the road with four sections of traffic lights, which require more than an hour on the road. There is also a long stage of construction works behind Auce – it will take an hour to leave this stage as well.
On Vidzeme highway (A2) in Augšlīgatne, repair works take place in the section above the Līgatne river culvert – in this section there is a traffic light and, for its departure, an additional 10 minutes must be taken into account.
In the section from Rauna to Launkalne there are up to four sections of traffic lights, but for their departure you have to count on more than half an hour. In the section from Launkalne to the Smiltene-Gulbene intersection, there are up to two sections of traffic lights, which take less than half an hour to leave.
On the Daugavpils highway (A6) in the section from Salaspils to Ikšķile a speed limit of 70 kilometers per hour is set and one of the two lanes on each of the carriageways is closed alternately. In the section near Pļaviņas between the two roundabouts there is a speed limit of 70 and 50 kilometers per hour, there are two sections of traffic lights and it can take an additional 20 minutes.
The Daugavpils highway section from Līvāni to Stūrišķi has two traffic light sections and a speed limit of 70 kilometers per hour, as well as traffic on the Daugavpils-Rēzekne railway crossing near Daugavpils is regulated by traffic lights and a speed limit of 70 and 50 kilometers per hour. In the section from Teivāni to Kreipāni near Daugavpils there is a speed limit of 70 and 50 kilometers per hour.
On the Jelgava highway (A8) in the section from Jaunolaine to the bridge over the Missis, traffic is still organized along the Jelgava carriageway in one lane in each direction and the speed limit is 70 kilometers per hour. Additional time must be planned for the departure of this phase of construction, especially on weekday mornings and evenings, when the journey may take more than half an hour.
There are four traffic light controlled sections on the main road Jēkabpils-Ludza (A12) in the section from Greivuļi to Greiškāni near Rēzekne, as well as the speed limit of 70 and 50 kilometers per hour. It takes 40 minutes to leave the stage.
LVC representatives also informed that on the regional roads most construction works take place on the road Pūri-Auce-Grīvaiši (P96). Including the section from Dorupe to the intersection with the road Dobele-Krimūnas-Zaļenieki (V1098), there are four temporary traffic light sections and a speed limit of 70, 50 and 30 kilometers per hour. You have to spend 50 minutes on the way to leave.
During the road works at the Pūri-Auce-Grīvaiši section from the intersection with the Dobele-Krimūnas-Zaļenieki motorway (V1098) to Penkule, traffic regulators are planned, as well as a speed limit of 50 kilometers per hour. It takes less than half an hour to complete the stage. In its turn, in the section from Auce to Grīvaiši there are up to two sections of traffic lights, the speed limit is 70 and 50 kilometers per hour, but you have to spend an hour on the way.
On the highway Ventspils-Kuldīga-Saldus (P108) in the 20-kilometer section from Ventspils to the turn to Zira there is one traffic light section and a speed limit of 70 and 50 kilometers per hour. It should be noted that this stage will take 45 minutes to complete.
There is one traffic light section on the Limbaži-Aloja (P13) road in the section from Baloži to Aloja, the speed limit is 70 kilometers per hour, requiring less than half an hour on the way.
On the road Pļaviņa-Madona-Gulbene (P37) in the section from the roundabout to Aiviekste there are three sections of traffic lights and the speed limit is 70, 50 and 30 kilometers per hour. It will take half an hour to leave this section.
On the highway Svente-Lithuanian border (Subate) (P70) in the section from Ilukste to Eglaine there is one traffic light section and speed limit of 70 and 50 kilometers per hour. Leaving the stage takes less than half an hour.
On the highway Jelgava-Staļģene-Code (P94) in the section from Emburg to Ceļmalnieki there are three traffic light sections and a speed limit of 70 and 50 kilometers per hour. It will take less than half an hour to complete these stages.
On the road Jelgava (Tušķi) -Tukums (P98) in the section from Liepāja highway (A9) to Slampe there is one traffic light section and speed limit of 70 and 50 kilometers per hour. It will take less than half an hour to leave this stage.
On Saturday, September 12, and Sunday, September 13, military exercises “Namejs 2020” will take place in Aglona, during which in cooperation with the State Police on the roads Kraslava-Preili-Madona (P62), Dagda-Aglona (P60) and Kraslava-Izvalta- Temporary traffic restrictions are possible in Skeltova-Aglona (V636).
Also on Saturday, September 12, at Litene from 10 am to 6 pm on the highway Auguliena-Pilskalns-Litene (V417) there will be an autocross race at the end of Litene, during which traffic on this section of the road will be periodically closed.
On Saturday, September 12, in Smiltene and its surroundings, a cycling competition will take place from 11 am to 2 pm, during which traffic on the Smiltene-Strenči (P25) and Smiltene-Mēri-Lobērģi (V244) roads will be restricted in separate sections.
