For Draymond Green, his days at the Warriors are numbered

Potentially a free agent in a few months, Draymond Green will be one of the next files to watch on the Free Agency market. Is there a scenario where Draymond no longer wears the Warriors jersey from the 2023-24 season? The answer is yes, and Green himself says so.

Since the episode of the potato on Jordan Poole and the big contract extensions signed by the latter (128 million over four years) and Andrew Wiggins (109 million over four years), the future of Draymond Green in Golden State has somewhat darkened. The Warriors – who already found themselves with a luxury tax record last season (more than 170 million dollars) – will see their bill become more and more salty, enough to ask questions about the future of a 32-year-old player like Draymond who is potentially coming to the end of his contract.

A few weeks ago, Draymond Green said he intended to play another 4 or 5 years in the NBA and that he did not want to take for granted the opportunity to spend his entire career in his favorite franchise. But at the same time, his pitch was pretty similar: The NBA is big business and all good things come to an end. And every ending is a new beginning.

Could this new beginning take place in Los Angeles by chance? It’s a bit of a fashionable rumor about the Draymond case. With the Lakers who will have the salary margin to offer a nice contract to Green next summer, it is in any case a possibility to be taken seriously. Especially when you know the love that Green has for his friend LeBron…
