Launching from India Express, Diabetic eye is the term given to a group of eye conditions that often affect people with diabetes. Most commonly, people with diabetes develop diabetic retinopathy.
Other conditions that are diabetic eyes are diabetic macular edema, cataracts, and glaucoma.
“Over time, uncontrolled blood sugar levels can cause permanent damage to your eyes,” the expert said.
Here are some early signs of diabetic eyes, including:
- Blurred vision
- Difficulty understanding colors
- Dark threads or floating spots in vision
- Difficulty seeing at night
“But, by taking the necessary precautions, one can prevent the development of diabetic eye disease or prevent it from getting worse,” says Dr Mallikarjuna.
