In 2023, Pabrika’s offer plans to recruit 1,000 people voluntarily to the general defense service. Meanwhile, Kalniņš admits that this year he managed to voluntarily recruit only 98. The difference between these numbers will be called the “Factory Voluntary Principle”. Motivational? Unlikely. So far, A/P’s proposed prime minister candidate has managed to recruit Russian propaganda show star Andri Liela, gastroenterologist Anatoly Danilans, Concordance Evija Papulis and to scare away many more and more capable of fighting from the service. The arrogant pre-election slogan “take away the grandparents’ passport!” A/P typical voters will soon be able to target their own political supporters.

When talking with the coalition partners, it becomes clear that they are also unprepared for this Pabrika and A/P pre-election initiative, but feel compelled to express their support for the idea, which in the current security situation and with the dramatically low recruitment rates, is impossible not to support, but whose implementation not much is known about the technical details. It is clear that marginals, populists and pro-Russians are allowed to stand against the general national defense service in this pre-election campaign. And the ellipsis of ambiguity left by Pabriks in his more sloganeering, less clarification-oriented press conference is a gift to the campaigners of these deniers.

Pabriks’s unprepared outcome was undisguisedly aligned with the upcoming A/P election “locomotives” presentation event, a warm-up for the role of prime minister candidate, for which Pabriks was not officially nominated yet, but which no political expert has doubted for a long time. Obviously, realizing that the locomotives have too many defects, the smooth introduction of this business project to the Saeima and the preservation of influence required an “oh!” moment, a patriotic initiative that will absorb the wonders we see at the top of the A/P candidate lists.
