If Kylie Jenner has managed to create a successful cosmetics brand, not all of her product releases are always well received by critics.
To celebrate her birthday, Kylie Jenner usually goes out a special makeup line to mark the event with a white stone. This year is therefore no exception and the 25-year-old entrepreneur has developed a collection consisting of 3 glosses and 3 lipsticks with a matte finish. If the latter cost $ 35 (around € 36) and $ 32 (around € 33) respectively, that’s pretty much the price of the “Birthday PR Box” that combines the two product ranges is causing a stir. Sold for $ 175 (around € 180), the latter is neither more nor less than a cardboard box with the brand image. A remark that Bethenny Frankel did not like very muchentrepreneur and protagonist of the reality show The Real Housewives of New York.
“Not worth it”
It was on her Instagram page that Bethenny Frankel talked about Kylie Jenner’s 25th anniversary box. Thinking that the products offered in the $ 175 package would be different from what can be found individually, the 51-year-old entrepreneur did not hide her (bad) surprise when, at the opening, she realized that the cosmetics were exactly the same as those sold nearly $ 108 less. The reason for this price increase? The “collector’s” box offered by the brand. “A girl on TikTok said so, I was surprised. I thought something had to be different “Frankel explains before continuing: “There is something different: it is the cardboard box that you will end up throwing in the trash.”
Not satisfied with her purchase, Bethenny Frankel announces that she wants to return the box. However, she runs into a major problem: Kylie Cosmetics does not accept returns … He ends up losing patience and expressing himself: “I love packaging, I love products, but where you get lost is when you screw me” explains at the end of the video. And we understand it.
The Kardashian / Jenner family and the scandals
This isn’t the first Kardashian / Jenner family scandal., constantly in the spotlight. A few years earlier, Kim Kardashian’s brand, KKW Beauty, had been heavily attacked for her specially developed contouring sticks. The problem ? They broke on first use due to a too fragile structure e their capacity was so small that their price was clearly unjustified.
Kylie Jenner was also heavily criticized when she released her peanut scrub. What was he accused of? A composition too aggressive for the skin, which made it react instantly.
Obviously, the media power of the Kardashian / Jenner clan as well as their sometimes questionable positions are factors of distrust towards their different brands and businesses. But we have to admit that loading a cardboard box over $ 100 so that its container is stocked with the same products that can be purchased individually is still what we can call … A nice scam. Kylie is not beautiful.
