PORDENONE AND UDINE – From the first signs, to a consolidated trend. And for the first time even in Pordenone, the province most in difficulty in recent weeks, people slowly start to breathe in the ward. The pressure on the hospitals in Friuli Venezia Giulia always remains high, and it will still take time to be able to talk about the end of the red alert. But for five days there has been a data that bodes well: hospitalizations in the medical area are constantly decreasing, without trend reversals. And it is the first time this has happened since, between the end of September and the beginning of October, the second wave began to have its effects on the health system. On the other hand, the employment of intensive care units deserves a separate chapter, showing a more fluctuating trend from day to day, albeit without peaks or surges.
THE TREND
Yesterday the number of patients hospitalized in Covid wards other than intensive care fell below 600. This had not happened since last November 27, when there were 594 patients, exactly the same number recorded yesterday by the Region. But more than numbers, curves speak and count. And they are those designed by Agenas, the national agency for regional health services. What concerns the occupancy rate of beds in the Medical Area in Fvg is finally down. It went from 52 percent on 14 December to 47 percent on Friday. And yesterday the share dropped again. The occupancy rate had always remained above 50 percent since last December 4th and had not fallen below the second alert threshold. Now, on the other hand, it aims to go below the first, set at 40 percent, where the national average figure stabilizes. The Fvg, therefore, has taken the path of the descent of hospitalizations, even if it remains among the northern regions with the highest hospital occupancy rate. Different, as mentioned, the trend of the Reanimations, departments that, however, in the second wave did not see the same tsunami arrive as the first. In Fvg the employment rate fluctuates around 33 per cent (in the national average), still above the threshold of thirty. Days of decline alternate with new entries and there is still no marked decline.
IN THE PROVINCE
The decline in hospitalizations is uniform across the region. The lowering of the employment rate is also reflected in the Pordenone healthcare system, which experiences its first days of attenuation of the phenomenon after more than a month and a half in apnea. The pressure, even at Santa Maria degli Angeli, remains high. Fortunately, however, the return of many previously infected operators is helping to ensure better care for patients and a more punctual organization for the hospital. And the numbers also speak. On December 9, the peak was reached: 198 people hospitalized due to Covid. Today, however, there are 175. Concern remains about a level of contagion which remains high in the province and which contributes to slowing down the decline in hospitalizations.
